When looking for a relaxing coastal city in the Ukraine, one needs look no further than the pearl of the Black Sea- Yalta. This beautiful city is situated on a shallow bay facing south towards the black sea. Surrounded by mountains, its warm Mediterranean climate makes it the perfect place to unwind while soaking in the rich culture of the area. The people of Yalta, especially the Ukrainian women, are warm and carefree. Their friendly attitudes and laid back demeanor are a reflection of their city, welcoming visitors from all over the world to share in their beautiful surroundings.

Like many cities in the Crimea, Yalta was originally a Greek colony that made wide usage of its convenient ports. It was during the 20th century that Yalta became the primary holiday destination for the Soviet Union. In 1920, Lenin issued a decree "On the Use of Crimea for the Medical Treatment of the Working People," which stated that the region would changed from an exclusive resort for the rich to the primary area of recreation for the average worker. Because of this, numerous Sanatoria, or health spas, were constructed around Yalta. Later on, Soviet dictator Stalin would use the Massandra Palace as his place of summer residence. Yalta would also become the focal point for world politics when it became the host for the now-famous Yalta conference, a meeting of Western and Russian leaders during World War II.

Today Yalta is a thriving coastal community. Its shoreline boasts numerous nightclubs, cafes, and restaurants that cater to Russian and European tourists. In the heart of the city one can find everything from casinos, hotels, museums, and theaters. Yalta also has several historic palaces and even a winery called Magarach, which has become famous for bringing the flavors of the Ukraine to the far reaches of the globe.
