Yalta would also become the focal point for world politics when it became the host for the now-famous Yalta conference, a meeting of Western and Russian leaders during World War II.

Today Yalta is a thriving coastal community. Its shoreline boasts numerous nightclubs, cafes, and restaurants that cater to Russian and European tourists. In the heart of the city one can find everything from casinos, hotels, museums, and theaters.
