What is the most efficient way to use your service?
Most of our members use the email service for initial introductions only, and when they find a few women whom they are interested in, they'll schedule times with the ladies to use our instant messaging service. From that point forward, they will usually only send emails to the ladies when the ladies are not available online to chat.
Our members tend to prefer instant messaging over sending emails because it provides for immediate results. You type your message, and the lady sees it a few seconds later. Plus, if she's streaming video, you can watch her expression as she reads what you sent. This form of communication proves to be much more gratifying and interactive than emailing. It is also very efficient, considering that you are chatting with someone in real time and do not have to wait hours or days to receive a reply.
Can the ladies see me if I have a web cam?
No. Our web streaming service is currently one-way only, meaning you can view the ladies but they can't view you. Why? Two reasons: bandwidth, and the high cost of Internet service in Russia.
In Russia, you can't pay $50 a month and enjoy unlimited broadband Internet access. The Independent Company/agency Representatives with which we work pay for their Internet service in the same manner in which you pay your utility bill. It's based upon usage. The more you use, the higher the bill.
Many of the Independent Representatives utilize dialup connections that simply cannot support the amount of bandwidth required for two-way video streaming. For those Independent Representatives that do have a broadband connection, they are currently paying hundreds of dollars per month for Internet access. Were we to offer two-way video streaming, not only would those Independent Representatives with dialup connections not be able to carry the service, but those with broadband connections would likely not be able to afford the additional bandwidth required to facilitate two-way video streaming.
Currently, we will only be able to offer one-way video streaming. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Do I get unlimited emailing with the Platinum Membership?
Platinum Members receive 50 free introduction emails and 30 free follow-up emails each month. To learn the difference between an introduction email and a follow-up email, click here. The reason that we cannot offer an unlimited email plan to our members is that the Independent Company/agency Representatives with which we work must pay their translators for the services they provide.
Were we to offer an unlimited email plan in which members pay a set fee and in turn are able to send an unlimited number of emails to the ladies each month, the amount of emails sent would be much greater than the amount of revenue collected. Thus, the amount of revenue that would be needed to pay the translators in order to translate all of the emails would not be met. As a result, the Independent Representatives would not be able to pay their translators for the amount of work required, and the majority of your emails would not be translated.
We have tested an unlimited email program in the past and found it to be inefficient. As an alternative, we now offer several membership levels that enable members to send a limited, yet generous amount of free emails each month. For more information, click here.
What's the difference between an introduction email, and a follow-up email?
You may have noticed that different membership levels allow you to send a certain number of free follow-up emails and/or introduction emails each month. For instance, Platinum Members are able to send 50 introduction emails AND 30 follow-up emails each month at no extra charge.
An introduction email differs from a follow-up email in that it is intended to be what the name implies and nothing more, a simple "introduction" or first contact. For accounting purposes, our system recognizes the very first email you send to a lady as an "introduction" email. All emails sent to that same lady after the first initial email are then considered "follow-up" emails. When you want to send an introduction email to a lady, you can do so using either the follow-up email icon (yellow envelope) or the introduction icon (red/yellow "i") located within her profile card on the left-hand side of your screen.
Regardless of which email icon you select within a lady's profile card (introduction or follow-up), if you have not sent her an email in the past, our system will recognize the email you are currently attempting to send as an introduction email and either deduct one free introduction email from your allotted limit if a Silver, Gold, or Platinum Member, or charge you accordingly if you have exceeded your free introduction email limit, or if you have a membership in which you do not receive free introduction emails (Bronze). This automated function ensures that regardless of which membership you are using, you will always use your free introduction emails first. Only after you exhaust your free email limit for a given month will you need to purchase credits to send additional emails.
If you have previously created an introduction email, when you attempt to send an email to a lady with whom you have never corresponded, your introduction email will be automatically displayed in the email window and you will be given the option to send it as it appears, or edit it before sending. If you have yet to create your introduction email, you can save one at any time by checking the "Save As Intro" box located within the email window before clicking the "Send" button.
By allowing you to save a standard introduction letter to our database, we have eliminated the need to cut and paste it every time you wish to send it. After saving your introduction letter, you will be able to send it to any woman you choose by simply selecting the "i" icon located within her profile card or the follow-up email icon (yellow envelope), and clicking "Send." You don't even have to add a salutation, as we automatically add a personalized salutation, including the lady's username, to the beginning of each introduction email you send.
Note: You can only send one introduction email to each lady. Upon doing so, the "i" icon located within her profile card will become inactive and change to a gray color. If you click on the email icon in a lady's profile card for whom you have already sent an introduction email, our system will recognize the email you are currently attempting to send as a follow-up email and either deduct one free follow-up email from your allotted limit if a Platinum Member, or charge you accordingly if you have exceeded your free follow-up email limit as a Platinum Member, or if you have a membership in which you do not receive free follow-up emails (Bronze, Silver, or Gold).
HOW MANY LADIES SHOULD I WRITE TO ENSURE A RESPONSE?
On average, sending an introduction letter to 20 or more ladies will ensure you receive a sufficient amount of responses to gauge your initial compatibility with several women. When writing to just one or two women, your chance at achieving meaningful correspondence is reduced considerably.
Why does it take some of the ladies longer than others to reply to my emails?
Please keep in mind that most of these ladies do NOT have the luxury of receiving your emails and replying to them from the privacy of their own home. The vast majority of them do not own a computer or a car. Those who do have a computer, often times can't afford the high cost of Internet access in Russia.
So, how do the ladies get your emails? Independent Company/agency Representatives located within the former Soviet Union. We work with over 150 Independent Representatives throughout Russia and Ukraine. In order to access our website, a lady must visit the office of a local Independent Representative. When you send an email to a lady, it is sent to her inbox on our website and a copy is forwarded to the office of her Independent Representative. The Independent Representative will contact the lady to let her know she has a letter waiting for her.
The lady can choose to travel to the office of the Independent Representative by foot, a rather uncomfortable proposition during the harsh Russian winter months, or by public transportation. If she's too busy to visit the office, which is often the case, the Independent Representative will read your letter to her over the phone, interpreting it when necessary. The lady will then compose her reply, and either take it to the office of the Independent Representative when she has the time to do so, or call the Independent Representative back, and read her reply. The Independent Representative will in turn type the lady's reply and send it back to you.
As you can see, when these ladies want to send an email, they can't just walk into their living room, flip a switch on the computer, and jump on the Internet. While it may take some ladies a week or more to send a reply to your email, others may live very close to the office of their Independent Representative and be able to send you a reply on a daily basis. The time it takes a particular lady to reply to your email all depends upon her individual circumstances.
CAN I INCLUDE MY PERSONAL CONTACT INFORMATION IN OUTGOING EMAIL or Chat MESSAGES?
In compliance with the "International Marriage Broker Regulation Act of 2005" (IMBRA), members are prohibited from freely exchanging their personal contact information through our services.
However, we have implemented various protocols that will enable you to exchange personal contact information and/or arrange an in-person meeting with a lady through the assistance of an Independent Company/agency Representative. Please click here for further details.
ARE EMAIL ATTACHMENTS ALLOWED?
Yes! When composing an email, you can check the "Add Attachment" box to attach a picture to an outgoing email. After clicking the send button, you will be prompted to browse for the file you intend to attach.
Note: You must have at least one picture posted in your profile if you wish to use the attachment function. The add attachment option will not appear until after your profile picture has been approved and formatted.
I attached a picture to an email. After sending the email, I checked the attachment to see if it went through and it said "Attachment Under Review." Why?
All attachments are reviewed to insure they do not contain content that violates the terms & conditions under which our service operates. After an attachment is reviewed and released, you will be able to view it within your sent email folder.
During regular business hours, attachments are usually held for review for no longer than one hour. If the attachment is sent during non-business hours (5:00 pm - 8:00 am EST, Monday through Friday, or all day Saturday and Sunday), it will be reviewed and released at the start of the next business day.
ARE EMAILS TRANSLATED FOR THE INTENDED RECEIVER?
Yes! However, the word "translation" can be somewhat misleading. When we mention translation, please keep in mind that we're not referring to a process in which a translator simply changes English words into their Russian equivalents. Many English words do not even have Russian equivalents! The translation process we implement is much more involved than that.
We utilize the help of skilled interpreters. Not only do they translate your message into Russian, they interpret the actual meanings of your sentences and translate them into a form that will be easily read and understood by the intended recipient. In essence, our translators ensure that the integrity of your message remains intact. This includes preserving the intended inflection, tone, and overall quality of your original message. That's something that cannot be accomplished by a mere literal translation in which words are converted into their foreign counterparts and left as is.
So, how do the ladies actually receive your translated emails and respond to them? Ninety-five percent (95%) of the ladies who participate in our program do NOT own a personal computer, and of the few who do, most cannot afford the high cost of Internet service in Russia. As a result, in order to read and respond to their emails, the vast majority of ladies who participate in our service must visit the office of one of the local Independent Company/agency Representatives with whom we have a working relationship.
However, as is often times the case, most ladies can't afford to visit the office of the Independent Representative on a regular basis. These women do not own cars, and if they want to get to the office, they either have to walk, or pay for a taxi, bus, or subway ride. Walking long distances is simply not an option during Russia's harsh winter months, so the ladies are left with no other option but to pay for public transportation. In instances where a lady has difficulty getting to the office to retrieve her email, she will instead receive and respond to her email with the help of a translator via the telephone.
Upon receiving your email, the translator will call the lady in question and verbally convey your message to her in Russian. She will then listen to and record the lady's reply. Finally, the translator will translate and interpret the lady's reply into English before sending it back to you.
As you can see, the translation process practiced by those Independent Representatives with which we work requires a considerable amount of resources, including time, money, and a number of highly skilled translators.
WILL I BE NOTIFIED WHEN I HAVE NEW INCOMING MAIL?
Yes! You will receive a notification message at your personal email address when new messages appear in your Hot Russian Brides mailbox. You can customize this convenience to get a notification once a day, once a week, for every new email you receive, or not at all. To tailor this service, you need only click on "Web Site Preferences" located in the right-hand column of your Account page. Additionally, if you are logged in, whenever your mailbox receives a message, the words "New Email" will appear on your Home page.
DOES Hot Russian Brides ASSURE THE PRIVACY OF MESSAGES DURING THE TRANSLATION PROCESS?
Absolutely. Our translators abide by the most professional of standards, handling your messages with the utmost discretion.
I typed a long email and when I tried to send it, I was logged out. Why?
For security purposes, our website will automatically log you out of your current session if you remain on one page for more than thirty minutes. To circumvent this from happening in the future, simply type your message in Microsoft Word or a similar word processor prior to sending. When you are ready to send it, login and cut/paste the message into the email window.
I attempted to send an email and I received an error message that read, "There appears to be invalid characters in your email." Why?
This error most likely occurred when you attempted to cut/paste your email from a word processor program such as Microsoft Word. Our email system will reject formatting that word processors attach to certain unique characters.
An example of a unique character is an accent mark. Accent marks can appear above or below letters. For example, a variation of the word cafe contains an accent mark above the letter "e" as seen here - café. If your email contains accent marks, please remove and replace the letters to which those accent marks are attached, leaving off the accent marks when you replace the letters in question. Then, attempt to resend your letter.
If you still receive the error message, or if you are unable to locate any accent marks in your email, feel free to send the email (in its original format) to info@hotrussianbrides.com. We will gladly locate and remove any such characters for you.
Note: In order for us to properly locate and remove invalid characters from within your email, you MUST send it as an attachment in the original format in which it was created. For example, if you created the email in Microsoft Word, please save the email as a Word document and attach a copy of the file to an email addressed to info@hotrussianbrides.com.
I sent an email to a lady and then chatted with her online. She says the email is not in her inbox. Why?
The reason the email in question was not delivered to the lady's mailbox immediately after you sent it, is most likely because our email filter flagged it to be held for review. We utilize a filtering program that automatically scans emails for rule infractions, i.e. when a member attempts to send his or her telephone number, email address, etc.
Please keep in mind that in order to catch the majority of rule infractions that take place, sometimes an email in which no infraction occurred is held for review. Such an instance is termed a "false positive." A false positive occurs when our filtering program mistakenly interprets part of an email as an attempt by a member to circumvent the correspondence policy defined within our terms & conditions.
For instance, if a member attempts to list the ages of all his brothers and sisters in an email, and he has numerous siblings, our filtering program may interpret such an entry as an attempt by that member to place a telephone number within his email.
We have a human operator who checks each email that is held for review. For an email in which no infraction occurs (false positive), the email is promptly released intact in its original state. However, for those emails in which an infraction does occur, the offending content is removed, and only then is the email forwarded to the intended recipient.
During regular business hours, emails are usually held for review for no longer than one hour. If the email is sent during non-business hours (5:00 pm - 8:00 am EST, Monday through Friday, or all day Saturday and Sunday), it will be reviewed and released at the start of the next business day.
Some of my emails have disappeared. Why?
Emails you sent or received more than 90 days ago are archived. In addition, if you make your profile inactive for a period of 30 days or more, all of your emails will be archived, regardless of how recently you sent or received them.
We suggest saving any emails that you wish to keep a record of. You can accomplish this by opening an email and clicking the "Save" link located within the upper right-hand corner of the email window. This function allows you to send a copy of the email to your personal email address so that you may copy it to your own computer.
On occasion, you may notice that only those emails to and from a particular lady have disappeared from your Inbox and Sent mail folders. This usually means the lady in question requested that her profile be removed from the website, indicating that she no longer wishes to participate. She may have removed her profile because she has entered into a relationship or because she has simply become too busy to continue using the service.
How do I block a Lady?
If you no longer wish to receive emails from a lady, you may take advantage of the new block feature available with any paid membership. This feature allows you to block emails from specific users. To block a lady, simply open her email and click the link to "block" located above the text of the letter. After the lady has been added to your Block List, you will be prompted to remove all her emails from your inbox or keep them.
To view your blocked list, click the Black Book tab on the upper navigation bar when you are logged into your account and select "My Block List" in the drop-down menu called Show Me. The results will appear on the left hand panel. If you wish to unblock a user, simply open her profile and press the link "Click to Unblock" located in the Email Status field at the bottom of her profile information. If you have not previously deleted her emails, you can also unblock her if you re-open an email from her and click "Unblock" above the text of the email.

I never received the confirmation email upon signing up. Why?
It's possible that you entered your email address incorrectly when initially signing up, or that the confirmation email was sent to your "spam" or "junk" folder. If, after checking your spam/junk folder, you are still unable to locate the confirmation email, please contact us.

What are "Favorites," "Matches," and "Admirers?"
Favorites
You can express interest in a lady by adding her profile to your Favorites folder. To add a lady to your Favorites folder, click the heart icon located
within her profile card. When you do so, she will receive a notification that she has a new Admirer (You!) and your profile will be listed in her Admirers
folder each time she logs in.
Admirers
When you have an Admirer, it means that lady is interested in you and has added you to her Favorites folder. Likewise, when you add a lady to your Favorites
folder, your profile will appear in her Admirers folder each time she logs in.
Matches
When a lady appears as one of your Matches, it means you have both placed the other's profile in your Favorites folder. You can add a lady to your Matches
folder if her profile is currently displayed in your Admirers folder. This can be accomplished by clicking the heart icon located within her profile card.
How do I send an email?
You can access our email messaging system from several areas of the web site, including your Mailbox and Black Book. The easiest and most direct way to email a lady is to click the email icon located within her profile card. Then, simply type the subject and body of your email and click "Send."

To see which ladies are currently online, click the flashing "Live Chat" button located within the navigation bar at the top of your homepage. To initiate a chat, simply type your message within the provided window and click "Send." The lady will receive a popup window alerting her that you would like to chat with her. She may then choose to accept or decline your chat invitation.

To see which ladies are currently online AND streaming video, click the flashing "Live Chat" button located within the navigation bar at the top of your homepage. If a lady's chat icon is flashing, it means she is currently streaming video. When you see a lady whose video stream you would like to view, click the flashing green chat icon located within her profile card.
The chat program will open via a popup window. To view the lady's video stream, click the green "Start Video" icon located within the upper right-hand corner of the chat window and then click "Accept." You can stop viewing the video stream by closing the chat window, or by clicking the red "Stop Video" icon.
Note: You can initiate a chat session with a lady who is streaming video regardless of whether or not you wish to view her video stream. To initiate a chat with a woman who is streaming video, but whose video stream you do not wish to watch, simply open a chat window by clicking her flashing green chat icon. When the chat window opens, initiate a chat as you normally would. As long as you do not click the "Start Video" icon, the lady's video stream will not open, nor will you be charged for viewing it. Likewise, you can view a lady's video stream even if you do not wish to chat with her. Simply open a chat window and click the "Start Video" icon within the chat window. When you are finished viewing, close the chat window.

How do I send a gift?

To add a lady to your Gift List, click the giftbox icon located within her profile card. When viewing a lady in your Gift List, two frames will be displayed. The left frame contains your Gift Basket and Gifts Sent for that particular lady. The right frame contains our Gift Shop, from which you may purchase any of a number of gifts. To remove a lady from your Gift List, click "Delete From My Gifts," located in the upper portion of the left frame of your Gift List.
To purchase a gift, click the shopping cart icon beneath the gift's description, located in the right frame of the Gift List. Upon doing so, the gift will be displayed in your Gift Basket, located in the left frame of the Gift List. To remove an item from your Gift Basket, click the shopping cart icon, located in the "Remove" field of the Gift Basket. When you are ready to purchase the items in your Gift Basket, click "Continue Purchase."
On the following secure page, you will be required to enter your personal billing information. Once finished, click the "Purchase" button to complete your transaction. When you send a gift, it will be displayed in the "Gifts Sent" section of your Gift List for that lady. Please allow approximately 3-5 business days for gift delivery. In some instances, gift delivery may take longer to arrive. When your gift is delivered, you will receive a confirmation email.

Meeting the Ladies
CAN I EXCHANGE PERSONAL CONTACT INFORMATION WITH THE LADIES?
In compliance with the "International Marriage Broker Regulation Act of 2005" (IMBRA), members are prohibited from freely exchanging their personal contact information through our services.
However, we have implemented various protocols that will enable "Qualified Members" to exchange personal contact information and/or arrange an in-person meeting with a lady. Please click here for further details.
What do I have to do to become a Qualified Member?
As defined by our Terms and Conditions, Qualified Members are those members who currently have a Silver, Gold, or Platinum membership and have also purchased a minimum of 2,500* credits throughout the duration of their membership. Please look under "Qualification Status" in "Your IMBRA Checklist" to see if you are qualified.
*Currently the credit requirement is 1,000 credits used.
Why must I be qualified before I can meet a lady?
We could fill the next few paragraphs trying to convince you that we only permit qualified members to meet our ladies because we feel a substantial correspondence history between partners brings with it the comfort of knowing that both of you are truly serious in your search, or, that after compiling statistics obtained from the account balances of hundreds of members, we found that those who utilized at least 1,000 credits throughout the duration of their membership, enjoyed greater success in finding ladies with whom they felt a connection, and ultimately experienced greater success when the time came to finally meet their match in person.
While all of the above is true, the bottom line is that this is a business, and like any other, we must cover our costs and make a profit if we are to continue offering our members the same level of service they have come to appreciate and ultimately depend upon.

I'm Qualified, how can I meet a lady I've been corresponding with?
Once you are a Qualified Member, please complete the IMBRA and intimacy request process as detailed here. From that point forward, our Travel Concierge will help you contact the local agency to arrange and coordinate an in-person meeting with the lady of your choice (with her consent of course).
Our Travel Concierge and the lady's local agency can both assist you with your travel accommodations, as well as any additional services you may require during your trip. Need a translator or driver, an apartment or hotel room, theater tickets or dinner reservations? The Travel Concierge can refer you to the local agencies, who will arrange all that for you, and more!
Examples of commonly requested services include: pick-up/drop-off at a local airport, arranged meetings with a lady, interpreters, ground transportation, and hotel or apartment accommodations. Even if you don't see what you need on this list, ask our Travel Concierge or the local agency about what you're looking for and it's likely they can help you to arrange it for your trip

I'm qualified, what do I do next?
Once you have met the Qualification requirements set within our Terms of Use, you may complete our easy, automated process for fulfilling IMBRA procedures and obtaining direct contact with consenting ladies through our service. You will also need to complete this procedure if you wish to be referred to the lady's agency by our Travel Concierge in order to make meeting arrangements. - Click the IMBRA link at the bottom of the site to view your "IMBRA Checklist". Here you can find the procedural checklist, what the status of your paperwork is and what actions are still required to complete the IMBRA procedure.
- First, you will need to complete the Acknowledgement of Services form. In this document you simply acknowledge that you received the services you purchased from our website as agreed.
- After the Acknowledgement of Services form has been approved, you can complete the Client Attestation form required by IMBRA. This document asks basic background information which will be reviewed by the lady when you send her your Intimacy Request. At this time you will also need to pay the onetime $49 non-refundable Client Attestation processing fee.
- Once your Client Attestation form has been approved and your information has been checked against the National Sex Offender's registry, your IMBRA status will be set to "Approved" and you may begin sending Intimacy Requests!
- To send an Intimacy Request, click the appropriate link on the lady's profile card. When you send the Intimacy Request, 100 credits will be deducted from your account. If the lady accepts your request, direct contact will be established so that you may enjoy completely unfiltered chat and email correspondence. If the lady rejects your request or does not make a choice within 2 weeks, the 100 credits will be refunded to your account automatically.
I'm traveling in a few days. Can you help me meet some ladies?
Due to the amount of time and resources required to satisfy the provisions set forth within the IMBRA, we ask that you please contact us at least one month prior to your planned departure date. Should any unforeseen delays occur while the ladies you are interested in are being contacted, enlisting our help well in advance of your departure date will ensure that your requests are fulfilled within ample time of your upcoming trip.
Please keep in mind that we also recommend you do NOT purchase your airline tickets until those ladies with whom you are interested in meeting have reviewed your Client Attestation Form and have completed their written release forms. While we have assisted some members who found themselves at the mercy of an unavoidable time constraint, more often than not, we are unable to make arrangements under such short notice.
